Christ Church Cemetery

Our beautiful old historic burial ground was first laid out after the Church Building was started in 1809.  A few earlier dates are noted on stones, but these are either reburials from other cemeteries or the person is memorialized because the family was buried here.

Cemeteries, especially the older ones, are considered outdoor museums, both for the information carved on the stones and the artistic work of the stone carvers.  Veterans from the Revolutionary War and since are among those buried here.  We have three historic references from 1914, 1934 and 1976, as well as our Church records, which have proved to be of significant help in doing research.  Plots are no longer available in the cemetery, though ashes may be added to family plots.
